Walkin’ in high clover
From bees to chickens, everyone on the farm has been walkin’ in high clover! While 2020 has proven to be quite a trying year so far, not everything has taken a turn for the worse.
Our clover is amazing. It was a blanket of lush green for St. Patrick’s Day and quite noteworthy. Now, in April, red waves of blossoms are being moved around by the wind. It makes you stop, look, and spend a bit of time.
The bees are busy taking full advantage of the abundance, because they know that these blossoms won’t last long. Clover likes cool weather, and will soon go to seed and die back when it gets hot. The cat likes to lazily play with the tall red spikes. And the chickens? Well, they are mainly happy to be together. The good weather and lush greenery are just a bonus.
Here is a funny little video for you. I tried to capture how fabulous the clover is, but the video doesn’t really do it justice.
