We harvest our honey once a year in mid summer. We sell it in quart jars and they are $20.
Prior to 2017, we were able to pull both Spring honey and Fall honey separately. Spring honey being lighter in color and milder in flavor, with Fall honey darker and slightly richer in flavor.
It could be climate change, but for whatever reason, we need to only take honey from the hive once a year now. That has worked out better for the bees. We are also experimenting with a new type of hive that is much more natural and less intrusive on the bees.
The flavor of our honey is quite good and has a happy medium color and taste between the light and dark honeys. For the foreseeable future, we will only harvest once a year, in July.
Our bees love Blueberry and Blackberry blossoms, Tulip Poplar, White Clover, Crimson Clover, fruit tree blossoms, Bee Balm, and many other types of plants that we make special efforts to protect and propagate. We recommend everyone consider honey bees when choosing beneficial plants for their gardens.
Many of our customers rely on our local honey to help alleviate allergy symptoms. For this to be effective, your honey should come from a local beekeeper that is in rather close proximity to where you live – preferably within 25 miles of your home.
What we sell
We sell only quarts, because we found it much easier to only have one size. Quarts for 2019 are $20.
