The 2022 berry season has ended

Berry Season has ended

Thank you

It’s July already, Oh my! The June blueberry and blackberry season has ended. Thank you to everyone who came out this summer to pick farm-fresh fruit, we appreciate you!

This past week we saw a few large groups. Its fun to be together with an outdoor activity and also great to take home some freshly picked berries for dessert. Many hands make picking several buckets of berries easy.

Beautiful Folks

It was the last week of berry season and these folks met the challenge to get berries before they were gone. Here is a slideshow from this past week. Thank you again for coming out this season. Put us on your calendar for next summer and enjoy those berries!

Evening Pick Only on Father’s Day!

Sunday is Father’s Day

Father's Day

We will be open for just the Evening Pick on Father’s Day 6 – 9PM. (Not the morning pick)

There are so many berries, its a snap to fill a bucket! Bring Dad on Sunday afternoon from 6 to 9PM.  It will be a great time to pick blueberries WITH or FOR the Dad in your family. Nothing says love like fresh, juicy, ripe, hand-picked blueberries!  This makes a great “kid-led” outing. So, give Dad a special treat. Remember that we will be open on Father’s Day Evening from 6-9PM.  We look forward to seeing you then!

Back to regular morning and evening picks on Tuesday, June 21st and Thursday June 23rd.
Morning picks are 8 – 11 AM and Evening picks are 6 – 9 PM.

How it works

We provide a bucket and liner. The berries are plentiful and a dream to pick. You keep the liner to gently carry your berries home. It’s that easy! The bucket size is two and a half quarts and the price is $15 per bucket whether you pick blueberries, or blackberries, or a combination. So all you have to do is show up.

Look ya’all… Just look at these wonderful smiles and berries!

Cool off with a Blueberry Trifle

blueberry trifleHave you ever heard of Blueberry Trifle? This is a wonderful dessert that is easy to put together. If you are short on time this is the recipe for you.  It is a kid-pleaser, and impressive to serve to a house-full of guests. A trifle is a layered dessert. Most folks make it in a clear punch bowl so you can see the layers. There are lots of recipes with variations that include pudding, sprinkles, and different types of cake.  However, here is a recipe for a “three-ingredient blueberry trifle” from Pretty Providence. Its perfect for a hot summer evening.

Freezing Blueberries

If you are going to freeze some antioxidant rich fruit for the winter months, now is the time!  There is an abundance of blueberries ready to be picked.  Once you get home, simply rinse your berries, and place them on a paper towel covered cookie sheet to dry and sort. You can roll them around easily and they dry quickly. Then on a cookie sheet with no paper towel, lay the berries in a single layer and put that in the freezer for several hours. Once the berries are frozen, you can put them into a freezer bag and store in the freezer.  Freezing in a single layer allows you to easily take out individual berries later on. You can grab a handful to eat or to quickly put into blueberry pancakes (no need to thaw). You can also easily measure out a cup or two of berries to use in a recipe.

Father’s Day would be a great time to pick “extra” berries with all the helpers… just sayin’.

Fresh Summertime Fun

Fresh is best

Our next pick dates are:
Sunday June 12th,
Tuesday June 14th, and
Thursday June 16th.
Morning Pick is 8 – 11 AM and Evening Pick is 6 – 9 PM

It’s berry season!

Rain-washed berries, ripe and ready to pick, are about as fresh as you can get. Make yourself and your friends & family feel special by hand-picking dessert! Blueberries are nutritious, delicious, and plentiful right now. Our blueberries and blackberries are grown with organic practices and are not sprayed with any pesticides. We have way more blueberries than blackberries, so if you want to snag the blackberries you have to come early.

What if it rains?

Our pick days are rain or shine. The berries are definitely fresh, rain-washed is a bonus! If Mother Nature sends some rain… its a great chance to wear your boots. (Picking in the rain has proven to be more fun than you would think.)

We hope to see you soon.  Berry season is always too short so don’t wait!
